Fall beauty & new creations!
The beauty that I woke up to this morning nearly made me gasp. It’s possible that waking up when it’s daylight helped to frame my morning better than my average waking-up-when-it’s-pitch-black ‘normal’. Someday my ‘picture taking’ skills will improve enough to actually capture the beauty of the scenery that surrounds me!
Here’s a fun creation that journeyed from mind to reality! I really like it…a lot! With some ‘time’ I could make…well, 60 of them because that’s how many silver rings that I have.
But for now I’ll relish in my one-of-a-kind ‘E’…for Elaine.

Sunday Inspiration!
I recently took this picture of the snow just above my house. At that time I thought, “How pure and untouched”.
In my own life, how I long to be so pure, and untouched by this world. It has so much to offer, so much of it, often the parts that appear the most appealing, threatens to snip away at that purity until there remains the potential of an open, weeping wound. Sounds a bit dramatic, but so easily attainable with so little effort. Really, it’s the effect of sin on our lives. I have choices to make each and every day.
“Lord, I give this day to You! Make my heart white as snow with Your cleansing power”.
Moving right along and still having fun…
I added rice lights under her skirt – it’s very fun and it can be seen inside the booth too. I don’t think that Miss Charming will be noticed by many though, because she is so high. My sweet-16-girl is quite impressed with the whole thing and thinks that our living room has the makings of a boutique.
I also added some fun stuff around her neck, but again, it really won’t be noticed. 😉
..and close-ups of my ‘cherry’ work ~
One of the things that I’ve enjoyed about this whole project is that I have had almost everything on hand to make it- I’ve purchase very little….add’l b&w fabric, thread, rick rack, a few shears (the inside is layered with vintage shears in a variety of sizes and textures, in shades of white~ I’ve used 20 and could use at least 4 more). Otherwise I had what I needed.

We’ve been having a lot of fog here with freezing temps – that combo makes the trees gorgeous!
Sunday Inspirations!
The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck
My Christmas Holiday 2008
I can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed our Christmas Holiday so much. As it comes to a close, I find those little tears puddling in the corners of my eyes as I think about just how incredibly blessed that I am. I know that my steps have been ordered and directed by God and my thankfulness to Him goes beyond words. I live out His goodness in my life each and every day.
Snow, Snow & more Snow
I really don’t want to bore you with lots of SNOW pics but here goes…It’s just that it is all-consuming these day. We have so much and the temps have stayed so cold that now we have to start shoveling all the roofs. We have a huge shop and house. We did the shop yesterday (22′ off the ground) and I did the deck today while the guys started the house….

Our electricity went out for almost 7 hours last night. I had a turkey already started so we plugged it into a generator and finished it off ~ then we finished it off… 🙂
We had a momentous event take place tonight – I’ll share that tomorrow….. 🙂
The sewing room is humming…
Christmas night, after our celebration, I was anxious to create a fun little case for my new camera.
I made this with Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern 2 – and then added an embroidered doily & a homemade button.
I’ve also been wanting to try this tutorial…so I did! (& it actually took 45 minutes)
…then I made 4 flannel pillowcases and went to bed about midnight.
Lauren was sewing right along with me. I LOVE it when we sew together. She sets up her machine & I’m on mine…we just talk, sew, sing and….well, whatever we want. I’ll have to post pics of her project(s) tomorrow.
