Boho~style – crown making and picnicking…

I’ve been ‘talking up’ the Royal Lady Workshop and Summer Picnic with excitement and expectation for a while now.

And, taking into consideration that I will always be biased, I will say that it exceeded those expectations.

It was a beautiful day that involved amazing ladies, delectable food and glittery sensations.

With the use of that word ‘sensations‘ I’ll also say that it was a day that touched each of our senses in a fun and somewhat unexpected way.

There is always a lot of planning and preparation involved but something that is a favorite element is that the over-all outcome seems to exceed the ideas that are floating around in my head.

I had amazing {marvelous, wonderful and impressive} help.

Amber and Trisha showed up a day ahead of time to help ‘get things done‘…and get it all done, we did!

My daughter, Lauren and daughter-in-law, Jackie were here for some added help and moral support as well.

Heather prepared and served the food from her summer-fresh menu…it was splendid and grand!  Yum!

The crown-making workshop was another hi-light of the day.

The creativity that each lady displays makes me smile.  I often have gals who come even though they don’t really get that crafty bug that so many of us have and I enjoy watching as they create something so fun and even enjoy the process.

The remaining pictures were all taken by Trisha Love.  I love each one that she has taken.  She adds a beautiful touch to everything she does.

The next opportunity for a fantastic get-away, crafty-retreat-in-the-country is October 20-22.

Ruffled and Ready!

I do have some pictures and posts to show from our trip to Alaska but since arriving home last night, I now need to hit the ground running to get ready for Saturday’s Royal Lady Workshop and Summer Picnic.

I’m so excited for Saturday!

I have a wonderful group of gals coming….{and there’s even room for another few}

Heather’s menu is positively mouth-watering….

Now it’s up to me to make the rest come together and happen!

One of the things that I was able to work on while in AK was the hand-dyed ruffles for the crown workshop.  I also made sweet little wraps for some of my home-made goat’s milk soap that each gal will receive.

cuteness

did I mention that I’m excited and that I want you to be there too…{it’s not too late}

The trip to my parent’s place in AK is loooooong.  It takes about 16 hours to get there depending how all of the connections work out with two flights, 4ish hours of driving, a 3-hour ferry ride and a bit of waiting in between.  It’s always good to take along some projects and reading.  I threw in some linen cuffs that I could add some needle work to.

Strawberry Lemonade, anyone?

The Royal Lady workshop and picnic lunch is an event that will transform my front yard {and all of your senses}.  In the mean time, it certainly plays with my mind…on a daily basis.  I want every part of it to be perfect.  I’ve been working on drink ideas and trying to perfect a fresh strawberry lemonade.  I go out to the garden pick a couple of handfuls of strawberries, juice them, squeeze the juice from a few lemons…add some water, sugar, fresh mint leaves….refrigerate….taste, taste and taste again….see how it sits in the fridge for a couple of days…taste some more.  And then a few days later I repeat the process again.

the results?    It’s all good, tasty and beautiful!

maybe I’ll even add a touch of sparkle to it…

I can’t wait for July 30th – It’s going to be grand and there is still room for YOU and your friend{s}!  🙂

the Royal Lady workshop…

I mentioned that the glitter was in…now it’s time to let it do it’s thing…

Each day I get more and more excited for The Royal Lady workshop and summer picnic that is scheduled for July 30th.

Heather, of Farmgirl Gourmet, and I have met and talked ‘menu’….I’ll just say, “YUM!”  I guarantee it will tickle your palette with pleasure.

We are planning to take the freshness that summer offers and serve it up…picnic~style

Amber of Tres Birds Photography will be here to capture the beauty and essence of the day so that {if you have to miss} we can tickle your visual senses {basically that means, ‘make you wish you had been here’}…

The crown workshop is guaranteed to tickle your creative fantasies.

My friend Cathy and I got together last week to make crowns.  I needed my own refresher course and I also needed a break from the dailyness of things.  So we slipped in some time to celebrate friendship, eat good food and get our hands dirty glittery!

Oh, such fun!

I plan on making gobs of fun, pink {hand-died} ruffles to have available.

Sometimes I struggle a bit with ‘tooting my own horn‘ but I just have to say that I believe this day will tickle your fancy in every way.  If you can come, I want for you to come!

Please come!…I just know that every party is better when you are there!!!!

Just in case you didn’t see the link mentioned above, click HERE for all of the information on the day!

I’ll also mention here that if you would like to make a weekend of it I have a couple of cabins here that could be available upon request…sounds like the perfect get-a-way to me…!

Retreat-style, Boho workshop…

I am excited to mention here another one-day workshop that I am planning for this summer at my place.

I’m even more excited that Heather of Farmgirl Gourmet will be joining me for this event.

It will be a splendid day brimming with glittery, crafty goodness and a {to-be-envied} picnic lunch wrapped up in one, big, glorious country setting.

My plan is to do it all outside under tents.

Oh, I can’t wait.

Will you join me?

Spread the word.  This is open to anyone.  Bring a friend {sister, mother, grandma, neighbor…}!

And for even more Bσhσ whimsy…the Fall retreat has three spots open right now.  If you’re looking for a full weekend of inspiration, fun and wonderful food, my place really is the place to be!

{ultra}fun clipboard

Do you ever have so much fun that you feel like you must be doing something illegal?

{I hope so!}

This morning as I was working on this {ultra}fun clip board I felt just that way.

♥ so much fun

I love these boards and I use them in my home to help me keep organized.  Generally, they have more clips/clothespins on them to keep my lists going…

For the upcoming Bσhσ Art Retreat I’ve been wanting to combine one of these fun clipboards with mixed media.   With fresh inspiration from the online Mixed Media class that I’ve been taking,  I jumped in, merged the two and I love the result.

I’ve decided that my favorite part about working with mixed media is that…are you ready?

…there are no rules.

that just makes me giddy

Every piece is so different and just when I think I might be done, I decide to add another little touch here…or there…or maybe that needs a little somethin’…

I decided to make this one all about me.

I love home…

I love being home…

I love staying home…

get the idea

A few of the details that make this me:  the main background is a vintage map of the area where I live ~ the roof  is from some scripture out of a Danish Bible {it’s OK, I scanned it},  Joshua 24:15 which reads “as for me an my house, we will serve the Lord” ~ layered over that is that specific verse {scanned, of course} in English [i love the picture this gives of God being the covering over our home] ~ a heart layered over the home is from a map which hi-lights right where I live as does the chandelier crystal that hangs from a hook ~ red is the color themed throughout ~ I scanned a portion of an apron that I have that belonged to my grandma and used that for the…apron ~ …it’s all so ME!

Now that this is done, tomorrow I will gather together some pictures of the retreat projects and team them with this post to give a better idea of all that we will be working on.

L.O.V.E.Banner :~

When I am hosting an art retreat or workshop it’s nearly impossible for me to make anything…especially when I’m teaching.

It makes me a little sad but it’s just the reality of it.

On Saturday, after the luncheon was out of the way my friend, Cathy, kept encouraging me to sit and so I could get a good start on ‘my’ banner.

Thanks to Cathy I was able to get just enough of a start to get me excited about finishing it.

This is literally one of my first charms that I made {about 4 years ago}.  It’s  fun to just add them to a project here and there.  My craftsmanship had a long way to go but they make me smile!

Here are a couple of charms that I made yesterday…

Cathy’s birthday is this week so I snuck this picture off of her FB page so I could charm it up for HER!

I’ll take more glitter and tea, please?

I’m not sure I can adequately describe yesterday’s Valentine Tea and Glitter Workshop but I’ll try and hopefully the pictures will fill in nicely where my words didn’t.

Thanks to Erin Hudson Photography for doing such a beautiful job capturing the day.

I was so excited when I woke up, it felt like Christmas morning.

There were 20 gals here who knew how to make the most of this fun day.

They were such gracious guests and oh, so CREATIVE.  With some instruction and inspiration from Becky Ellis and Holly Baublitz of Spokane’s All That Glitter, each Valentine Banner that left was exquisite.

I’m really not trying to brag, but the food was beautiful and delicious.

Thanks to Meyer Imports for sending a little ‘goody’ for each guest.

More YUM!

I think that this is my favorite picture so far…Hollie and her “J.O.Y.” banner…. so beautiful!

I actually sat down and did a little creating…I’m happy to say that today I finished my banner.

Here’s the whole crew.

An amazing group of gals….Can we do it again???   Soon???

Truly this was a day that fit right in to the design concept that I have for my Bσhσ Art Reatreats.

An unconventional, artistical gathering  to renew Body, Soul and Mind…with a bit of added whimsy here and there!

It’s almost Tea Time!

Mr T has officially moved out of his comfy chair in the living room so I can transform it into a Valentine Tea and Glittery Workshop space.

I must say that he is amazingly good-natured about this whole thing…a little bit ago he came in and said, ‘Is there anything else I can do for you?’….love that guy

This is still a {mighty} work-in-progress.

There will be 20 excited, crafty gals here tomorrow morning so I better keep working!

I decided to make pumpernickel bread for one of the tea-time sandwiches…I haven’t ever made it before and was surprised to know that it takes about 10 hours to make…then it has to be refrigerated until use ~ hopefully when I make those thin slices into it tomorrow it will be edible!
