happy birthdayI’m celebrating two years of blogging.

It’s hard to describe the experience that it has been for me.

I began through the encouragement of a friend…not even knowing what a blog was.  I had established a name for a business but I didn’t see blogging as something that was an enhancement for my business so I didn’t choose that name {Vintage Charm} for my blog.  I started blogging so I could participate in a new community, where I could show the creative things that I put my hands to.

I’ve been surprised.

It has enhanced my business…it’s been a perfect compliment.

I’ve made new friends.

I’ve become a part of and have loved this community where friends gather.

I’ve also truly enjoyed what you have added this month with your own participation .  Part of it, I’m sure, is due to the give-a-way that I’m having, but the comments have been so wonderful and encouraging to me and I would love to say, “keep ’em coming!”

winnerWe do have a winner!  I had my sweet girl pick a # between 1 & 94 (wow! that’s a lot of comments for me).  Her favorite # is 44 but that # was her dad (oops!) so she cut that in half ~ that makes #22 the winner…Vintage Bethie…who doesn’t, as of yet, have a blog.

…a give•a•way

♥ celebrating the 2nd year of my blog ♥

leave a comment on any {and all} posts during the month of October

shopping bagI got so excited after writing yesterday’s post that I had to go right to my sewing machine and get this sweet, functional little thing started.  Sometimes you just gotta work when ‘miss inspiration’ is at work.

close-upThis is not your average shopping bag…it is certainly a one-of-kind.  When you walk into the store with this, any gal with class will certainly turn an envious head your direction!

this bag was made:

1) by re•cycling a chicken feed bag

2) with fabrics that have all been acquired through my 2nd hand addiction shopping…
charmand, for the sake of fun, I just made a charm to throw into the give-a-way!

A give-a-way in our future…

I haven’t been showing up here lately as much as I like to but, when I haven’t been skipping across the state, I’ve been consumed with this project.  I can officially say that I’m caught up (only with that project).

At the end of this month I plan to do a give-a-way for my second birthday.  October 30, 2007 was my first, ever-so-humble post.  Complete with the photograph of me that was, safe to say, my mom’s least favorite…thus the ‘proof only’…yes, these pictures were never ordered.

feed bag...future...?OK, back to the give-a-way…I don’t have it made yet but my creative mind is telling me that it has something to do with this…an empty chicken feed bag.   Oooooo…I just can’t wait to see what becomes of it!

chickensSpeaking of chickens, here’s an update.  Aren’t they just so adorable?

And, it seems like my little Mister always has to be front and center.

Somehow, I keep getting distracted…OK, back to the give-a-way…

I am going to draw one name using all of the comments that have been left during the month of October.  Now, it hurts me to say this publicly….but, since I don’t really take in an exuberant amount of comments, everyone will have a grand chance at being a winner!

*ooo…oooo…ooooo…I just finished the ‘above mentioned item’ and it’s oh, so, adorable, fun, functional and grand!  …you just better start leaving those comments!    ~have I ever mentioned before that I really comments???

Sunday Inspiration!

the Lion Chaser’s Manifesto by Mark Batterson

Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Expand your horizons. Accumulate experiences. Consider the lilies. Enjoy the journey. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can. Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Don’t let what’s wrong with you keep you from worshipping what’s right with God. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze a new trail. Criticize by creating. Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks. Don’t try to be who you’re not. Be yourself. Laugh at yourself. Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Quit running away. Chase the lion!

#12 was chosen by Mr T as the winner for The Twelve Teas of Friendship.

Jenny! That makes you the winner!…w/Relaxation!

Jenny & I have become friends through this community.  She lives in Australia and she actually found me last year when she was searching the internet for soldered charms (at least I think that’s how she found me).  She has a fabulous sewing business, life story, family and life in Australia.  Go visit her and say, “Hi”.

my favorite comment was from my daughter w/[fond]memories!   …makes me smile just thinking of them~

Blog Badge Challenge!

At Camp Whimsy, Kim is encouraging all of the vendors at the Farm Chicks show, who are also bloggers, to wear a badge that tells the world that we  blog!  I’ve been giving it a lot of thought as to how I want my badge to look.

blog badge

This is my ‘idea’ in three dimensions.

I could end up making something different but I think this says what I want it to…and it’s fun!

my MOO card

Since I’m asking them to ‘ask me about…’ I would like to have some of these fun little MOO cards to hand out that have been designed with my blog in mind.

The joy and {warmth} found in new friends…

Yesterday was a fun-filled and full day for me as I traveled from the NE corner of my state to the SW corner to meet up with my girls.  It started early with a blustery, snowy~rainy day as I headed to South Spokane for the Farm Chicks book-signing.

Welcome!I was welcomed warmly as I entered Chaps [ˈshaps]. Celeste, the owner, also makes a lovely, warm hostess.

hot steamy carmel macchiato

They served me a beautiful and tasty, hot cup of coffee.

Barb & I

I met up with Barb, my brand new friend.  We met through our daughters and realized that we have some other fun and personal connections.  This was our first time to meet face to face and we so enjoyed getting to know each other through visiting and discovering the  many things that we have in common.

This was also my first time to meet up with Teri & Serena, although we have chatted a lot online through blogging and e-mail.  They are sweet, down-to-earth and quite lovely.  When I first arrived, Teri came up from behind me, called me by name and said, “I feel like I know you” …with a warm hug.

Now that’s how you give a country-girl, Farm Chick-style welcome!

Chaps is decorated in such an incredible and wonderful way.  I could never take enough pictures to capture the essence of the place.

As I left Chaps, Barb and The Farm Chicks with my beautiful and newly autographed book in hand, not only was my car beginning to warm from the wonderful, vitamin D-enriched sun that I so desperately needed but my heart was warmed by new friendship.  It was a blessing to share in some ‘girl time’, something I’ve missed in the move from the west side to the east side of the state, where I left behind a couple of my {sassy} friends who consistently know how to have fun and make me laugh.

I have a wonderful blessing in my friends….

Something new is coming…

A little bird that was flying through cyber-space told me that there is a new blog  joining our community.

give-a-way charm

I’ll let you know as soon as I know more.

Actually, I do know more.  This charm will be used as a give-a-way on that blog.  That’s really all I know.  Oh, I guess there is one more thing, there will be a #2 charm given away as well.

Don’t know when, where, how???? …but, I do know by whom.

«i love this {one•of•a•kind} charm and i really wanted to keep it, but i was so excited about the possibility that one of you might win it that i slipped it out into the mail with nary a thought»
