Boho Wrap-Up ~:~

Well, it’s time to wrap up this grand Boho adventure.

This is the group of gals that made it all happen…they are the ones who have defined what this whole thing is about.

βσhσ Art Retreat • CampOne

Trish and I –   …oh, sweet Trish!

Cindy and I…

Ellen and I…

Let me tell you a sweet story about Ellen.  She wrote to me several weeks before the retreat and gave me a little bit of her background.  In the past two years she has gone through two different types of  cancer which included several rounds of chemotherapy. She said that one of the most difficult aspects of this was that it stripped her of any and all desire to do ANYTHING. When I announced on my blog that I was having this retreat, Ellen was the first to respond and say that she wanted to come. Her husband paid the deposit and I think that everyone in my house heard my whoop and holler because I had my first βσhσ girl!

What I didn’t know was that, on Ellen’s end, it was the first thing that had sparked her interest in a very long time.

Her husband saw that spark and jumped right in and said, ‘if you want to go then you’re going’.

What makes this whole story bring tears to my eyes is the fact that Ellen is from Oklahoma.  Her husband wanted so badly for her to do this but he didn’t want to see her take the trip by plane by herself so he drove her all the way out here…to Washington.  He camped in a tent up on a mountain while we βσhσed away.

After returning home safely, this is the note that she wrote to me…

Thank you for everything,  I had the most wonderful time.  I don`t think it could have been any better than what I wished for.  Everything you did was amazing, from the accommodation, the arts and crafts to the wonderful food.  I don`t think I have ever eaten so good!!!  You had a great presentation for everything, I truly enjoyed every bit of the Art Retreat.  I really enjoyed meeting everyone.  Everyone was a treasure.  Elaine, you did an awesome job on everything you did.  You are a great teacher.  I will be coming back again in the future. I loved it ♥ Ellen

Ellen is a sweet, sweet gal and I’m so glad that she was a part of this grand adventure!

My next βσhσ Art Retreat is scheduled for October 21-23, 2010.

there are several names on the sign-up list with one deposit in hand {my limit is 10}

The cost of the whole retreat is $280…It starts on Thursday morning and ends Sunday Afternoon.  Included in the price is lodging, meals, workshops and a glorious amount of fun!  This truly is such a bargain and I can safely say that after working my way through one retreat, the price will need to go up slightly for the retreats that I plan for 2011.

A $100 deposit will reserve a spot for YOU!

Don’t be Shy…sign up soon!

Eli would love to have you here and so would I!

How do Boho Girls Eat???

The answer to the above stated question?

Once again, you may witness the Bossy Boho

hot, fruit pies made with fruit that I gathered and froze last summer...huckleberry, raspberry and peaches ~oh, my!

One of my personal favorites of the weekend…roasting homemade marshmallows over the fire.

…and then making a s’more!   Mmm..Mmm!

each day I’m loving Ambers shared pics more and more

Here is another fun memory, caught with the creative eye of Trish.

Ellen (and others) worked away on an unfinished project while we watched a movie on the big screen (a white sheet hanging over the windows).

Vintage Bottle Workshop

Our last workshop, taught by Becky and Holly, was to transform a vintage bottle into something wonderfully elaborate.

This jar was taken by Holly and transformed into…

…this lovely jar.

Becky is showing us how to make ribbon rosettes like she added to her bottle in the picture below.

This was a fairly simple Sunday morning workshop to wrap up our weekend with.

My next post will be about one of the weekend’s most glorious hi-lights….FOOD!   I can’t wait~

the top 4 photos were shared by Tres Birds Photography…thx. Amber!

Soldering Workshops

Saturday was devoted to soldering.   We began by doing a practice piece…just glass.

Some of the gals took that piece, later in the day, and modge podged some fun piece of collage to the backside and used it in a creative way.

We then ventured on to a ‘real’ charm and after that soldered a large piece to hang inside a barn board frame.  Although I have done so much soldering {3yrs…1000’s of pieces}, I hadn’t ever taught soldering.

Becky, soldering away...

It didn’t go as well as I had hoped but the gals seemed to love it anyway.   I do remember my own first soldering experiences and how diligently I worked to get just the right look.  It literally took making 200-300 charms before I felt that I was doing ‘OK’.

I’ve been looking into taking a class of my own by soldering expert, Terri Brush, and now I want to take one all the more.

I love this picture because Cindy is still smiling.…actually, she was even smiling by the end.

Cathy is working away...

...and Arlene is working at her first 'practice' charm...

Thank you Amber, once again, for sharing your lovely photos and she wrote a sweet post about all this HERE.

Crown Workshop

After our journal workshop we began the crown workshop.  These two workshops also complimented each other nicely because the journals were more of a ‘work in progress’.

Becky and Holly of All That Glitter were the fabulous teachers for this workshop.

I love these gals.  We do a few shows together throughout the year and it has been wonderful to get to know them on a more personal level.

The base of each crown was genuine rusty, vintage chicken wire.  🙂  From there it is amazing where ‘the imagination’ can take you.

Here’s Trisha working away on her glorious creations!

Trisha‘s finished crown!

And sweet Cathy is modeling hers.

Journal Workshop

Our first workshop was creating a journal…from scratch…taking plain papers and ephemera and creating something unique.

Something that captured the βσhσ spirit of each gal.

I encouraged them to use a favorite picture of themselves {at any age} on the front cover.

more fun…

I’m going to side-step to relieve some pressure from my photographer who is trying to integrate back into life with her family of 6.  If her Seattle weather would just cooperate and RAIN for me, I might get her edited pics sooner.

I might also add that I love this girl and her whole family so, truth be told, I’m just so glad that they could manage to share her for the weekend.

So, in my *desperate attempt to divert, I will {through a variety of lenses} show the Boho Queen at work.

*desperate because you will rarely ever find a post with so many pictures of me.

Although I have spent countless hours soldering and have created thousands of pieces, this was my first time to teach soldering.  I think I can be honest to say that it was stressful for ALL but the gals also said that they loved it and were so glad that it was a part of the weekend.

Bossy Boho

Art Retreat…quick overview~

All of the Bσhσ Girls have left.

My house is now so quiet and lonely. Before, and after, my 1½ hour nap I have found myself going through every detail of the weekend, trying to process it, taking notes as I go along as to how I can make improvements  for the next art retreat.

Our days were so full, it has also left me wondering how I can possibly begin to share it with you and do it any kind of justice.

Throughout this next week, however, I’ll try to do just that.

I’ll work my way through the workshops and the meals showing you pictures as I go along.

I loved having three of my {long-time} favorite people join me for the weekend.

Amber (Tres Birds Photography) and Trish (?) and my sister Arlene (who has started a brand new blog).

I can now  add more names to my list of  favorite people!

Each gal who came seemed to be hand-picked to complete a perfect team of nine.

I began dreaming of this weekend about one year ago and I have to say that it reached {and exceeded} all of my expectations.

I’m very excited as I think of the next one {October 21-23}.

I promise, there will be more to come…

This post just has to be a teaser…too busy teaching, cleaning, cooking, socializing and since it’s 12:23 am it’s time to be sleeping.
