creating with spirit & enthusiasm…often with great results

A journal…just for ME!

For years I’ve enjoyed assembling journals…customized just for…ME!

There is so much functionality in a journal made just for YOU.
uniques papers, tabs, pockets, embellishments…Oh, my!

For Christmas, my sis and I gave our mom The Cinch.  She had taken my journal workshop at one of my art retreats last year and loved making her own journal.

I hadn’t had a chance to use this sweet little tool so I borrowed it to finish this journal that I had made for myself.

The result:  I loved it!  ♥            {I need my own!}

…designed for Bσhσ business.

I love it…I just like to look and it and touch it and thumb through it and put fun things in the see-through pockets…

enjoy the little things in life

Royalty, indeed!

Last week I finished a Bible study on the book of Esther with a wonderful group of gals.

Esther, has always been my favorite book in the Bible.  It is such a beautiful story with so much content that we could have probably spent more than 10 weeks studying it.  Although orphaned at a young age her destiny was to save her people, the Jews who lived in Persia, from complete annihilation.  Through one miracle after another, Esther becomes Queen of Persia.  From there, through her own obedience, her life is used in a wonderful way.  The famous verse from the book is this:

Esther 4:14

14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

We don’t always know why we’ve been put where we are.  I personally know, without a doubt, that the Lord has had His hand on me from the time that I was a little girl.  With that belief and knowledge I can be assured that with each twist and turn my life takes He has a purpose and a plan for me.  I may not always ‘feel’ like Royalty but I still know that I am!

Yesterday, for Easter, we sang, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.  Because He lives, all fear is gone.  Because I know who holds the future.  And life is worth the living, just because He lives.

I’ll admit that I got a little teary when I sang those words yesterday.  This year has brought some challenges my way.  Challenges that touch my emotions deep {and daily}.  I will never tire of the reminder that my God sees all, knows all and deeply cares about all.  I am His daughter.  That right there makes me Royalty

I would challenge you to read this book.  It beautiful, interesting and very quick to read!

Fresh Herbs…

I have had these herbs sitting in my kitchen window.

They just make me smile…sitting there in their slouchy, burlap bags, waiting for a pinch here and a pinch there…

Amber captured this fun shot.

Baby Chicks…

I picked up 40 baby chicks last week.

Oh, My…Are they ever cute.

Any time I get chicks I like to keep them in the house as long as I can just so I can keep an eye on them.

There were just too many of these little critters to keep them in for more than a few days.

I love listening to their little chirping noises…

So does Tripp…he just wants for them to come out and ‘play’!

Boho Wrap-Up

I have loved spending the week talking about last weekend’s Bσhσ Art Retreat

Camp.Three did not disappoint.  I loved every minute of it!

October 20-22, 2011 will be the next Art Retreat weekend.  Click HERE for all the details on Camp.Four.  I have about 7 spots open for that weekend.   For those of you who are thinking that this might just be for YOU, I am offering a $35 discount to all gals who get their $100 deposit in by June 1st.  {such a deal}

I’m not quite sure what the future holds for this {Art Retreat} part of my business but I’m loving what I see so far.  I do have DREAMS of it growing, not sure how, where and to what extent but I love that I can just remain flexible and be a part of the ‘ride’.

I do know that there will be more day workshops available.  I’m working on a couple of options in the Spokane area.  As soon as any details are in place I’ll have all the information right here!

if you have any questions leave a comment with this post or e-mail me at vintagecharm@integrity.com

Boho Cuisine…

This is the day where I get to share with you some of Amber’s mouth-watering photos.
I’ve found that Bσhσ Girls have great appetites for good, home-made food.

Yum!

It’s OK…my mouth is watering too!  🙂

I am SO THANKFUL for the gals who helped me in the kitchen…my Mom, Sister and friend Cathy!

Thanks Ladies!!!

Boho ~ DayTwo

On day two of our Bσhσ adventure we learned the basics of soldering and then we crafted these two soldered projects.

These gals really picked it up fast and went with it.  I don’t have any pictures of the finished charms that were made but if some come my way then I’ll share them.

I just noticed when I looked at this picture that the sign high up on the wall is crooked so I just fixed it…that might make you feel better, I know I do.  🙂

I appreciate what Beka had to say about her day of soldering:

I can see why the gals love your classes and come back. Thanks for all your time & patience in sharing both what you know and your time & materials so the rest of us could get a taste of what it’s like to be creative.   It’s nice when folks like you aren’t afraid to share what they know for the love of craft. “

Thanks, Beka…it was fun to have you and all the other gals join in!

All pictures in this post were taken by Amber of Tres Birds Photography and here are a few more that I’m adding…

Boho ~ Day One

Our first Boho Art day was spent with mixed media.

Our fingers were covered with paint, glue, ink, paper, charcoal, …  you get the idea.

As I recently took the ‘She Art’ class by Christy Tomlinson, I encouraged the gals with the idea of adding their own creative girl to their work.

Mixed Media is a fun one to work with because it combines nearly everything that you’ve ever played with in art starting with your first art class in Kindergarten {and earlier}.  You can use a combination of just about any technique and it causes you to creatively think of things that you’ve never tried before.  There simply are no rules and no mistakes.  Just keep working at it until you love the finished project.

We started with an 8×10 canvas so we could play with some of the options and techniques, then we moved on to a larger board turning it into a one-of-a-kind clipboard.

I’m so glad {and blessed} that Amber Strehle was able to join us on Saturday to capture some of the projects, food, people, festivities,….I’m excited to share these pictures of hers and more {as she shares them with me} over the next few days.  Check out her BLOG as she has been writing posts on her recent trip to Africa.

I mentioned taking a mixed media art class by Christy Tomlinson.  I also wanted to mention that she will be starting a new online class soon called, She Had Three Hearts.  Fun, sweet gal!  Click HERE if interested in more information on that!

Boho ~ DayThree

I am sorry that I have neglected my visits here over the weekend so that you could catch a glimpse of the grandness of it all but, here I am and over the next few days I’ll try to share some of those… glimpses, that is!  🙂 {oh,my!}

Bσhσ Art Retreat – CampThree

Let me start out by saying that from the beginning to the end I give about 100% of myself so please understand when I say that taking pictures is not high on the list of things to do and I really wish that it was.  I didn’t take one {not even one} picture on Friday.  I was very blessed to have MissAmber here all day on Saturday to take pictures and what I’m sharing in this post are pictures that I took Sunday {yesterday}.

Yesterday we worked on the Table Top Glass Journals.   We had to start by drilling holes in the glass.

The fun part was designing the covers.  {inside and outside of the front and back = 4 sides}

Here are a few pictures of the finished projects…

My sister made one to hi-light some of our mom’s recipes.  Very cute and sweet idea!

LaVonne made this journal to commemorate a special family vacation.

A chain handle was added at the end to resemble a charm bracelet.  I LOVE LaVonne’s idea for preserving all of the ‘smashed pennies’ that her kids had made while on this vacation.  She lined them up in the order of the places where they visited.  {such a creative mind!}

What a full, wonderful weekend it was.  I feel so honored that each of these ladies was willing to spend their weekend with me {some came for just a day}.

Where creative, like-minded gals gather ~ Creativity soars!

I’m excited to share more details as I get some more photos….check back!  🙂
