Turn the lights out…

…the party’s over!

my tired candlesWe had a perfect night with our church family at our Open House Christmas Party.  There were about 30-35 of us.  We had great food, drinks and fellowship mixed with plenty of love and laughter.

p.s.  ~some of those candles look a little like I feel.  🙂

  2. Oh my gosh! Elaine, is that the candle holder you mentioned in your email? It’s perfect the way it is! It’s gorgeous!
But if you still want to paint it, I’d prime it lst with a metal primer spray. It’s a rusty red in color. The candle holder is pretty shiny so I think paint would chip off if you didn’t prime it. Once you prime it, you can add any color you like. Light ivory would be stunning. Flat or satin or semi gloss finish. All 3 will give you a different effect if you rub oil based stain on top. The flat will absorb more. The satin less and the semi gloss probably easier to control but it will be really spreadable and take a bit longer to make it stay in the hollows of the holder. I personally like semi gloss. Then, an antique paste wax on top when it’s all dry. Might take 24 hours or even a bit more for the oil base stain to dry.
Hope this helps. If not, email me and I’ll try to help more.
GORGEOUS PIECE! Very elegant and the wax dripping down makes it look even prettier and old!
