my messenger bag is complete

Here’s a fun bag that I finished this week.

I used the ‘high street messenger bag’ pattern by Amy Butler, along with a variety of her fabrics. I wasn’t going to use it for my laptop but I decided, “Why not?” I made a separate padded bag for it to go in for added protection.

It’s a little make-shift but I think that it will work great.

*a year+ later ~ I absolutely ADORE these bags!  – if you make one, you won’t regret it!

Happy Birthday, Amber

My sweet friend is having a birthday in November and I came up with a unique gift idea.  This was fun and easy to make and totally personalized for her.  I call it a vinyl collage bag

It is made with magazine clippings, layered onto a piece  of heavy canvas; collage-syle, then layered with clear vinyl and sewn with a variety of stitches and a fun thread, almost in a machine-quilting type of manner.  From there I sewed up the sides, made a flat bottom, put in a magnetic closure, added a lining and strap (belt from the thrift store) and it was done and so, so cute.  I sent it to her early and she has received some fun comments.

That same week, she sent me to a composition notebook tutorial that was adorable.

I also made that for her and stuck it in her box.  It was a great project.

 Happy Birthday, Amber Rose!
